God, however, is standing by to transform the thinking that enslaves us in suffering. He’s waiting for us to make our minds available to Him so that He can transform them. He’s waiting for us to be converted to His way of thinking, and thus to His way of living. Paul, in his Letter to the Romans, passionately urged the Romans to allow God to transform their thinking and their living, saying “I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God . . . Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect” (12:1-2). God’s will is not that we exist in a living hell of our own making. It is that we exist in a living heaven of His making. But we have to allow Him to work with us, to work with our minds, and our feelings, and our behavior. Our lives are the stuff out of which God can create blessings, if we will only allow him to do so.
