Tomorrow evening, many will leave their Thanksgiving celebrations to shop for Christmas presents overnight and into Black Friday. Some will do so with gladness and create community out of the experience (joining with friends and family and finishing with a meal together), some will do so with grasping and grabbing and create consumerist chaos out of the experience (desperate to get the goods before others). As the rush toward Christmas begins, I offer this lovely reminder of what the season actually celebrates: Emmanuel, God with us, born into the world to live among us, reminding us that the holy is present to us if we will only acknowledge it! What you will witness in the video: A small group of carolers enters a mall, sings Christmas carols, and creates a holy space. A shopping mall is made into a worship space. We live and move and have our being in God. Let's remember that as we prepare the way of the Lord!
