The Holy Spirit blows where it will, inspiring who it will, in the service of the Kingdom of God. When it blows, sometimes it stirs things up, creating a mess or changing things. Like the men with Moses, or John with Jesus, or the woman with the pies, we can get upset when things get messy or when they change. But rather than striking out against others, we’re to examine our own attitude. Are we upset for Jesus’ sake? Or for our own sake? If we strike out, will we create a stumbling block for someone else’s faith? Does our attitude further the Kingdom of God or hinder it? These are not superficial questions. They are serious questions that we should take seriously. For if we create stumbling blocks for others, Jesus says it would be better for us to have a great millstone hung around our necks and be thrown into the sea.
