Our group began by defining spirituality as “our relationship with God.” Our relationship with God is reflected in how we experience God throughout the day. All agreed that it is necessary to pay attention, as God is always communicating with us; we just don’t always notice it. But you can often look back and see where God was leading/guiding us; we called this “connecting the dots.”
Group members were in agreement that we want to deepen our connection with God and that taking time for daily practices (such as Bible study and prayer) is vital to this.
When we have a healthy spiritual life, we are grounded in God, and this will be reflected in how we deal with problems, issues, crisis and confusion (in our own lives and in dealing with the people around us).
We noted that spirituality is expressed vertically (between us and God) and horizontally (between us and other people), and that these two directions form a cross, reminding us of the cross of Christ.
